Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a disease that affects the joints because the body's immune cells attack the joint’s inner lining.
1. Destruction and deformity of smaller joints
1. Hands
2. Feet
3. Neck
2. Pain, stiffness and swelling in areas affected.
Apart from this, other parts of the body such as lungs, kidneys, heart, and skin can be affected too.
Causes of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Because RA is an autoimmune condition, what causes it is not entirely known. Genetic and environmental factors may play a role.
Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Treatment revolves around decreasing the activity of the body’s immune system with a variety of drugs. These drugs can increase the likelihood of acquiring infections due to weakened defenses.
